Prost Beer Hall is another cool spot in Old Elk Grove. The place is pretty cute and since we already ate we just ordered a few things to try: pretzel with cheese, kids burger and fennel salad. All were pretty good. We tried a few beers and went with a sour and cider, forgot which ones. Our server was amazing and was super sweet. We will definitely be back to try more items.
I love this spot! Great beer and cocktails for the Mrs. The pretzel is the way to start! I love German food, takes me back to good memories with all the buddies. The sandwiches are a great place to start, the plates full of mash potato's, or the noodles are where you should go! 10/10 and great for the lunch options.
This place is a solid addition to Elk Grove. Nothing like it at all in the area! We learned later (from instagram) that the same people own this and Old Town Pizza in Elk Grove. It's great they offer European beers - will fulfill that craving (or be a new experience for you, if you've never had that before!). I'm still learning German beers, so can't give strong recommendations -- but my typical question to waiters when I go to these kinds of beer halls is: "I like the Korbinian, what do you recommend that's something similar?" (or I google it). 5/5 stars if you're coming for the beer. Just so unique of a place for Elk Grove. 3/5 for food. Could use some work. We came on a Sunday, during the middle of lunch and dinner. Can't say there was anything particularly bad, but nothing particularly blew my mind. Lots of reviews talking about the large pretzel (which we didn't get) Has a lot of potential! Would definitely come back (maybe later in the night, on a weekend) to see how the vibe differs. Lots of seating so good for groups
I admit I wasn't too keen on going here. German food and beer isn't really my thing. I'll admit when I make a snap judgement. This place is Good! First of all, beer-I'm sure it's great but their cocktails are amazing. I've had the tropical drink and the special today Strawberry Dream. I loved both. The pretzel and beer cheese cannot be skipped, this is the best beer cheese I've ever hand. The kasespatzle with schnitzel is a definite going back for and the croquettes are amazing even though I hate sauerkraut. I also threw in a salad for good measure. It was fresh and not overdressed. The service here is friendly, fast and helpful. The location is beautiful, the decor is elegant, simple and inviting. They offer communal type dining so you may sit at a table with other people like a German beer hall, but you don't have to.
Prost is a great new addition to Old Elk Grove! I had heard from a friend they allow large party rentals so I reached out to inquire for a group of 30. I had never been there before but heard great things about the food so I decided to make a reservation. I worked with Heather, their banquet manager, who made the whole thing seamless and easy! They have a large room in the back that was perfect for our party of 26. It's not a closed room but they blocked it off with a divider and it's farther back from the main seating area so we were not bothered by other guests or noise whatsoever. There were two long tables set up for us, even a welcome note on the chalkboard! There are a couple of bar tables too which was perfect for extra table space for desserts and holding bags. There was even a little bench area which ended up being perfect for a little kids corner. Our main server was Kennedy and she was so awesome. Very friendly and made our whole experience really great! Despite having a large party, the food came out in reasonable time. We were there for about 2 hours total which is pretty good for such a large group! I love that they had a kids menu and high chairs, and even brought kids water cups with lids out. The giant pretzel was a MUST! It was just as beautiful as the photos. Tasted so fresh and I loved the two dipping sauces that it came with! We also ordered some of the Jager Fries which had these perfectly caramelized onions. The fries were good but these type of fries don't fare well as leftovers, so just make sure you share and enjoy them all fresh! We also ordered a kids burger which was a very generous portion of food, so it was perfect for our two kids to share. All of the staff who came to bring out food or greet us were all so friendly, even down to whoever is running the Instagram page who helped direct me to Heather. I was very impressed by their customer service and will definitely be recommending Prost to others!
I had not heard that a German beer hall had opened in this cool old building where the old Elk Grove Brewery used to be located back in the day. A friend and I were in search of a lunch spot that served beer. We couldn't go to any of the microbreweries nearby, because on a Thursday, none would open until after 3pm. Yelp to the rescue! A quick scan of the area yielded Prost Beer Hall a short drive away. A quick phone query answered a crucial question: is it dog-friendly? (Why, yes! There are 4 patio tables in front where your canine family members can chill with you as you enjoy the wonderful food and beverages served here. You want German and Austrian beers? They have 'em. In fact, I had a deli and refreshing Kölsch brew perfect for a warm spring day. They do have a few domestic microbrews and the odd Belgian selection, so there's a good chance you'll find something to enjoy. The Haus Fries are hand cut potatoes with pub cheese and sauerbrauten (meat) and are well-made and presented. I was initially dubious whether it would be filling enough for a full lunch, but not only was it satisfying, but I couldn't finish it all and had to ask for a small box to take it home. My friend had the bread and fried chicken breast sandwich and salad that she said tasted great! She, too, said that she couldn't finish it all and needed a box. The server was wonderful. We were seated, given water glasses & a water dish for the pooch (did I mention that it was a sunny, warm day?), patiently and helpfully answered questions about the menu items, and then took our order. His timing throughout was perfect. I couldn't help but think that we couldn't have asked for better food or service. Who needs to go to midtown for such a pleasant dining experience? Elk Grove has a new gem of a drinkery and eatery.
We stopped her to meet friends for lunch. I love the bench style table. It's like an indoor picnic. The overall taste of the food is food but just a tad salty in the fries. I think it's bc the salt used is the same from the pretzel. My husband and I shared a chicken schnitzel with a salad and the portion side is pretty good being it was split (like how they cut the sandwich and split the salad on different plates for us. The chicken schnitzel was tender and nice and the salad had a nice crisp crunch to it. The dressing was pretty good as well. The chicken strip and fries (just a tad salty) was good. Either my kids were really hungry and it really was good bc the kids gobbled it all up. The chicken strip isn't thick cut like most places. It's pretty thin but still juicy. The croquettes were also good. If you had croquettes from Porto's, I would say these are just as good. Lastly, the Lavender drink I ordered so delicious. Its non-alcoholic. It has just a hint of lavender that made it perfect.
Yooooooo... thank you Prost for coming to the EG. We are so lucky and grateful. We popped in here for our first time a couple months ago and we were hooked. We literally came here two more times that same week. The staff are very attentive, easy going, and social. The drinks are EPIC!! And the food is BOMB AF!! Drink recc - Haus Old Fashioned.... It's my go-to here. Food - pomegranate glazed ribs, croquettes, Prost salad, hot schnitzel sandwich, and the sausage platter. I am not going to break these down, rather I am going to tell you.... They're all full of flavor and will keep you wanting more. We met the owners one evening and we loved the place ever MORE!! They're so awesome, chill and asked a lot of great questions. It was obvious they care about their establishment and really appreciate their guests. This is a great date spot in old town EG. It really makes us proud to have it in our community.
Came in on a Friday afternoon and we were promptly seated. The restaurant was bright and had ample seating. Plenty of large tables with benches to accommodate larger parties. Ordered the Apple pie mule to start my meal. It was very light refreshing and had slight apple notes. Topped with a dehydrated apple slice. It was the perfect drink for me. Not too bitter and not overly sweet. As for food, I went with the lunch - schnitzel sandwich with pork cutlet. The pork cutlet was a little thin for my liking but the flavors were great. The brioche bun was soft and fluffy, the cutlet was seasoned right, and the sauerkraut slaw added just enough acidity to balance out the flavor. I decided to add the jager fries to my meal, and they were delicious. House fries topped with gravy, cheese, and caramelized onions. If I ever come back, I'd def want to try their dinner menu. There were a few items on there that caught my interest. Overall, great place to gather with friends of a bite and drinks. Highly recommend
We heard a German food restaurant came to Elk Grove!! This restaurant is located in the old downtown area. We waited to give it a chance to group after the initial opening. We have now been here officially three times. The first time we came to Prost Beer Hall was AMAZING! We sat at the bar and this lady bartender was outstanding. She went above and beyond to explain everything. Sadly, I am terrible with names. She tended to us like we were the only customers in the house. The next couple of visits were good but nothing like the first time. The Jagerschnitzel entre was delicious!! We chose the pork cutlet. The sauerkraut was on point, the mashed potatoes were delicious, and the other fixings were just as good. The lunch was yummy even though I prefer in the dinner form instead of the sandwich. They offer quite a variety of beers on tap. They also have wines and bottles as well. The next trip we would like to try their soup, pretzel, and dessert. Overall, what a nice addition to our Elk Grove community!
